Daily routine in the barn: checklist
A fixed routine saves time and stops things from slipping. You can adapt this checklist to your farm.
Morning
- Walk through the barn and check the birds: behaviour, plumage, anomalies
- Check feed and water supply
- Read and record the temperature
- Open the outdoor run (free-range and organic)
During the day
- Collect eggs, check nests
- Count eggs, sort by size, record breakage and dirt
- Collect and record losses
Evening
- Close the outdoor run and check the birds in the house
- Record the day’s sales
- Tick off open items
Weekly
- Review the laying rate trend and compare groups
- Plan due actions
- Export data if needed
